The last two weeks

Hey guys,
Greetings to all my friends and family in Germany from Franzi in Vancouver WA in big America to you :-)

The last weeks here in the USA were really good.
Last Friday I went with my friends Elli, Julia, Amanda, and Madelein to the Homecoming Football game and it was really fun. But it was so cold in the stadium *brrr* The rules of the game are very hard to understand but it was not so important because I think we watched the cheerleaders more. And we were laughing about them more than we watched the game *smile* I find football is a very boring sport but it is very fun to go to a game with your friends…


Then on Saturday was the Homecoming dance at our school. I went to this dance with the exchange students Julia (from Germany), Madeleine (from Sweden) and Ana-Christina (from Columbia). I found it was a little bit boring, because you had only a big dance floor, one table where you got drinks and little snacks and this was all :-( So the only thing that you could do for 3 hours long ( from 8 to 11 pm) was just dancing. But the time before homecoming at Julia’s and Madelein’s house was very fun. We got ready for the dance, ate pizza and took pictures. On this night I had so much hairspray in my hair I needed 30 min to take the hairspray out after the dance … it was so fun, we tried so many hair styles, funny! :-)



Then on Sunday Kacia and Wade had the idea to go on a boat trip to Portland. And so I asked the girls Julia, Madelein and Amanda (from Sweden) and Elli, a girl from my pottery class if they want to go with us. In Portland we went shopping and had a lot of fun (look at the pictures).

School here is going good and my grades are already ok. Kacia says she is proud of me *smile* The teacher here are all very nice and help me, if I have any questions or problems. Next week pre school starts and so we will work with little kids in Child Development, this will be very fun I think. In the English class I did a presentation about Germany and their culture. I got a A- (1-) and I am so proud of myself. It was really good and was fun, because I learned also things about Germany what I didn’t know.

This weekend was also very good. On Friday we had a Halloween party at Julia and Madelein’s house. We could bring a new friend and our swimming suit. So I asked Shay, a girl from my math class and Elli, the girl from my pottery class if they want to come with me to the party. At first we went swimming in the big pool and played water ball. It was fun. After swimming we ate dinner and made our own hamburgers. For dessert we ate a very yummy Halloween cake and muffins. But this doesn't look like a Halloween party, right? After dinner we did pumpkin carvings and it was fun. It was the first time in my life that I carved pumpkins, but I think my pumpkin looks really good, or whatdo you think? Than we looked at many German books, because the host mom from Julia and Madelein loves Germany. Her son is studying in Magedeburg and her first exchange student was from Berlin. And now they have Julia from Homburg (im Saarland). So it was interesting. The Halloween party was over at 9.30pm and Kacia picked me, Elli, Shay and Amanda up.

Today we had a birthday party at our house, because my host dad Wade has his birthday. Actually his birthday is tomorrow ( 29.October) but the American people celebrate birthdays earlier, that’s normally here and so we had a party at our house and many many people were here. We ate pork (Schweinefleisch) with BBQ- Sauce, with noodle salad, bread and German tomato salad. I made it and I am so proud of myself *smile* For dessert we ate very yummy chocolate pie and banana pie, my host grandma made it and it is Wade’s favourite pie. I must say, it was very good. My present for Wade was a CD with music from Roland Kaiser, because the first time I was here I listened this music very often and he told me, that he likes this music very much. And so I thought this is a good present for his birthday and he was very happy to get this :-)

Tomorrow we want to go to a corn-maze, this is like a labyrinth. It is popular during Halloween time and I think it will be fun. So we go at 6pm, because at night it will be more fun, because you can't see the way *smile* I want to ask Elli if she wants to come with me and my host parents.

Yes, on Monday starts girls-bowling where I must practice every day, but I think we have more games than practice. I don’t know how many girls there are, but I think it will be fun :-) Elli and Ana-Christina will do bowling too and so I know two people and it makes it easier to speak to other people I think. I know, I am a little bit shy…sorry! But now it is better than the first time and I speak to the people… I am proud of myself! But I think the reason is, because my English is better than the first time.

Ok guys, this is enough, I want to go to bed, it is very late here and I am so tired. And I want to say thank you for all your comments and the mails (letters) that I get from you. If anybody want to write me a letter, than write me a email and I give you my address from here.

Hochzeit

Hallo alle zusammen,
nun ist es endlich soweit und es gibt wieder etwas neues von mir zu hören. Mir geht es soweit ganz gut und mein Englisch wird auch mit jedem Tag besser, was es vor allem in der Schule einfacher macht. Komm mit den ganzen Lehrern ganz gut klar und die probieren einem auch immer zu helfen und wenn man mal was nicht versteht, dann erklären sie es dir nochmal. Hab leider immernoch nicht so viele Leute kennengelernt und mit denen ich mich ganz gut verstehe, da musste ich letzte Woche erfahren, das sie im Dezember die Schule wechseln (zwei Mädels aus meiner Töpfern Klasse) oder Shay (ein Mädchen aus meiner Matheklasse) das sie in 2Monaten evt. nach Kanada zieht :-( Hab da also nicht wirklich Glück *schnief*

War gestern auf meiner ersten amerikanischen Hochzeit, was zugeleich auch meine erste Hochzeit war, bei der ich live dabei sein konnte. Geheiratet haben Dara (das ist die Schwester meiner Gastmum) und Micah. Als erstes sind Kacia, Tracy und Ich gegen 12Uhr zu Dara ins Büro gefahren, wo Dara und die 4 Brautjungfern für die Hochzeit zurecht gemacht wurden, sprich Haare machen,schmicken und anschließend ankleiden. Gegen 14Uhr war dann Fototermin angesagt, das heißt alle Familienmitglieder treffen sich in der Kirche um Fotos zu machen. Somit sieht der Bräutigam seine Braut noch vor der eigentlich Trauung. Das war alles ziemlich stressig, da alles genau zeitmäßig geplant war und somit schnell gehen musste. Und ich finde das hat man Dara auch angesehen :-) Gegen 16Uhr war dann die Trauung der beiden. Fand das nicht wirklich so toll, weils halt die ganze Zeit um Goot ging und sie immer zu Gott gebetet haben... aber das ist nunmal so, wenn man krichlich ist. Dann musste Micah die Füße von Dara waschen und Dara die Füße von Micah waschen, was das zu bedeutet hatte, kann ich leider nicht sagen, vielleicht das sie beide rein in die Ehe gehen?! Kacia meinte das ist nicht immer so, eher selten. Nach der Trauung die ca. 1 Stunde ging, hat man dem Brautpaar gratuliert und konnte dann anschließend zum Buffet gehen und sich was zu essen nehmen. Zum essen selber hatte das Brautpaar nicht wirklich Zeit, denn irgendwie sollte alles ganz schnell gehen, also haben sie die Hochzeitstorte angeschnitten und jeder konnte ein Stückchen davon essen. Hat voll lecker geschmeckt :-) Danach hat Dara dann ihren Brautstrauß in die Frauen-Menge geschmissen, so das ihn jemand fangen konnte (hab ihn nicht gefangen ;-) ) und Micah musste das Strumpfband von Dara in die Männer-Menge schmeißen, was das gleiche bedeutet, wer es fängt muss als nächstes heiraten (ist hier so Tradition das das der Bräutigam in die Männer-Menge werfen muss). Und gegen 19Uhr war alles eigentlich auch schon zu Ende, Dara und Micah haben sich umgezogen und wurden dann mit einem sehr edlen Auto in ihr Hotel gefahren, dabei wurden sie mit Seifenblasen verabschiedet. ... ja dann haben wir alles noch aufgeräumt und waren gegen20Uhr zu Hause. Hier gibt es also keine großen Feiern danach, eigentlich nur die Trauung dann kurz essen und dann wieder nach Hause gehen.

An dieser Stelle auch gleich nochmal alles erdenklich Gute an das frisch verheiratete Ehepaar Corina und Steven Zimmermann!


Ja was gibt es sonst noch neues zu berichten?? mhhh...naja ist nach der Schule immer ein bissi langweilig da ich nicht wirklich weiß was ich machen soll, aber das wird sich bestimmt bald ändern, denn ab Ende Oktober, um genauer zu sagen ab 30. Oktober werde ich dann zum Girls-Bowling gehen und hoffe dadurch auch ein paar neue Leute kennen zu lernen. Da habe ich dann jeden Tag nach der Schule Training, entweder von 14.45-16.15Uhr oder von 16.25-17.5Uhr. Habe da zwar noch keine Ahnung wann ich da meine ganzen Hausaufgaben machen soll, aber das kriege ich bestimmt schon irgendwie hin :-) Ja, sonst gehe ich jeden Abend mindestens 40min rennen und hoffe das hilft ein bissi, das das amerikanische essen nicht ganz so ansetzt *smile* Wobei ich sagen muss, das meine Gastfamilie viel gesundes essen wie Obst und Gemüse zu Hause hat und wir nicht wirklich viel Fastfood essen. Das blöde ist halt nur, das die jeden Abend warm essen und sowas wie Brot (was wir Brot nennen) hier nicht haben, hier gibt es nur Toastbrot oder so ein ähnliches Zeug, also wird das auch nicht viel gesünder sein, also das warme essen :-(

Nächstes Wochenende ist dann Homecomming an meiner Schule und darüber wird schon die ganze Zeit geredet... "Was hast'n du für'n Kleid und mit wem gehste denn hin, ...". Ich werde da wahrscheinlich mit den zwei anderen Austauschschülern gehen, also Julia ist auch aus Deutschland und Madelein ist aus Schweden oder auch mit den Mädels von Ruxandra, aber das weiß ich nocht nicht genau, also mal schaun :-)
